{"id":743,"date":"2014-11-21T07:48:32","date_gmt":"2014-11-21T14:48:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/longshore-labor-relations.com\/?p=743"},"modified":"2014-11-21T13:03:35","modified_gmt":"2014-11-21T20:03:35","slug":"turkey-football-beer-big-bob-crew-priorities-new-contract-not-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/longshore-labor-relations.com\/?p=743","title":{"rendered":"What kind of father leaves his kids to fight the family&#8217;s battles?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After their normal nasty exchanges, both the ILWU and the PMA have decided to take a break from &#8220;big table&#8221; negotiations until the Monday after Thanksgiving. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/longshore-labor-relations.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/ILWU-Extended-Thanksgiving-Break-Release.pdf\">ILWU-Extended-Thanksgiving-Break-Release<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to Twitter, the ILWU offered to work up to November 27th and PMA did not reply, so they decided to leave yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>If you are sitting across the table from each other, how do you not get an reply?<\/p>\n<p>PMA is sitting on their thumbs and doing nothing to force the ILWU to continue to bargain.<\/p>\n<p>Where did these guys learn to negotiate?<\/p>\n<p>Actually this is sort of interesting, now the whole world can see how the PMA deals, or doesn&#8217;t deal, with the mighty ILWU.<\/p>\n<p>Why are the &#8220;little table&#8221; guys still working, while the &#8220;big table&#8221; guys go home?<\/p>\n<p>Most of the longshoremen, no, all the longshoremen, I know, feel none of their negotiators should leave any of the tables until they have an agreement. They feel Big Bob should lead by example and work non-stop until he gets an agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Be that as it may, all the\u00a0longshoreman will do what ever their Union leaders ask of them, whether they agree or not.
